On May 9, Malaysians will go to the polls in the first national elections since 2013. Prime Minister Najib tun Razak and his allies appear poised for victory on May 9, though the race is close. And if he wins, the prime minister could potentially transform Malaysia, which has been a semi-authoritarian state with some degree of the rule of law, into an Erdogan-style autocracy.
